About the Winery/Winemaker
The Le Fuselier Winery at Spring Creek Vineyards
was terraced to grapes 100 years ago by by Italian immigrants who came here to work the coal mines and make wine. Today, nearly 2000 vines spill down our rocky hillside toward Spring Creek.
We specialize in Riesling and Cabernet Franc as well as new hybrids like Chardonnel, Traminette and Cayuga White.
Winemaker David Fuselier and his wife Karin purchased the vineyard in 2006 and operate a fully modern winery, laboratory and tasting room right on the vineyard property, carrying on a family tradition begun in the 1500s and made famous by great, great, great grandfather Pierre Francois Fuselier de la Claire at Chateau Montagny near Lyon, France, on the Cote de Rhone.
Le Fuselier and Fuselier de la Claire brand wines strive to recreate for Canon City the very French idea of a "Vin de Village," a village wine that is approachable, affordable and completely local.
The Vineyard is located at 1702 Willow St, Canon City, CO 81212. Phone: 719-315-2075. It sits between Florence and Canon City on Highway 115 at the intersection of Willow Street. From Highway 50, turn South on McKenzie at the Canon City Home Depot store and proceed across the Arkansas River to Highway 115, then turn right. Proceed one mile.
Visit us any Monday through Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas, any Saturday in May or whenever we announce new releases of our wines. We offer group tastings, tours and receptions by appointment throughout the year.
Grape growers are always welcome to visit our vineyard and discuss viticulture on the Colorado front range. Our fall harvest, crush and press operations are open to the public. Call for more information or check our website.
Our top selling wines are our Chardonnel and Cayuga White wines made from grapes picked exclusively from Block A at the top of the vineyard. As many as a dozen varietals and blend are produced each year and sell out quickly, usually by Christmas.
