Cornerstone says "We do not make wine for everyone. We make what we believe in, not what the mass market demands. We will not be a slave to the fashion of the moment, we make wines we love to drink. What makes a great wine does not change; it's not like having hemlines to go up and down according latest whim".
Intensity, both in terms of perfume and structure, with a sublime elegance best describes the Cornerstone Cellars 2010 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Densely packed, fragrant aromatics of blackberries, black currants, licorice and dark chocolate mingle with fruit and barrel spices and an earthy minerality that energetically dances out of the glass.
Layers of sweet dark fruits burst onto an immediately generous palate with a lifted acidity. Lingering, complex tannins, balanced and decidedly approachable right no, seamlessly flow to a long and flavorful finish. With plenty of tannin lurking beneath its layers, with a balanced acidity, bottle aging will further develop the perfume, complexity and add to its sublime elegance over the next two decades.
My Tasting Notes:
This Cabernet Sauvignon has some huge fruits on the nose. This wine just smells like it could take on the biggest badass in the world. It looks like a Big Bold Wine that is going to just knock your socks off. The taste is simply amazing. It goes in thick and chewy. Like a warm blanket on a cold night. This wine is going to make you feel all kinds of special.. A definite food wine... Steak, burger or a big meaty pizza.
