With today's technology, there shouldn't be any website out there that does not contain contact info on the home page of the website that is not clickable. Our mobile devices can click on a phone number and dial it. Our mobile devices can click on an address and map it for us. Why Wineries wouldn't be using this or making sure that their sites are optimized for this is beyond me.
It is really simple to check whether your site is doing this. Visit your website on a mobile device. Yes, it is that easy. Could be one of those things that just gets overlooked! Like forgetting to put lotion on your feet in the morning!
I just randomly picked two wineries to check to see and here is a shout out to them for doing it right. Make sure you pull them up on your mobile device to see what I am talking about.
- Rex Hill has a mobile version of their website specifically calling out the phone and directions.
- Yamhill Valley Vineyards displays their regular site, but right on the homepage, has the clickable info I need.
Now you may say, "Kim", our info is right here under the contact us tab and you can click on it, then I will ask you this question. Why not have it front and center so your customer can get there quicker?
Here is the point. People that come to your winery don't have a computer handy. They are on their phones and making quick decisions. If they have to click in several times to get to your phone number or address they will get frustrated and move on.
Make yourself Accessible to your customers and the experience will start off to be a great one. Remember, the Experience is key!
