I had never been to Cerulean Skies Winery.. If you get a chance, check them out. They have a tasting room in Portland. They hosted this event and they did a great job! Great wine served by all, great food and tons of fun.
This time, I actually started at the beginning.. Usually I head for the end, but because I got there early, I was first to start. Do you have a particular order you do tastings in when working a room? I go for the less crowded ones, cause I like all the attention!
I have to say that every winery truly had something unique to offer. I don't think there was a huge overlap of any one particular varietal. The Columbia Gorge is filled with many small boutique wineries. The ones that are still run by the family and second generations are getting into the mix of making the wine. I love this family feel of wineries.
There is a 40 mile stretch that goes on both sides of the Columbia River to create this Columbia Gorge Experience. There are 27 wineries that exist in this area. What a great weekend trip. There are plenty of lodging options in the Gorge so you can taste through a couple of days.
All the wineries in attendance truly love their AVA and want everyone to stop and visit them. I will be making a trip very soon.. probably over the summer.
Thanks to the Columbia Gorge wineries for letting us taste your amazing wines! Follow me on the WineyWomen Facebook... cause I like talking about you... all good of course :-).
