Guy Drew Vineyards, Unoaked Chardonnay 2009

Thursday, August 19, 2010
My Notes: I am not a big white wine fan. I would rather drink reds all day long. But... every once in awhile I get ahold of a white that really surprises me. This unoaked Chardonnay was very soft and easy to drink. You could tasting the honey and pear. The mango cut the citrus to give it a sof read more

Guy Drew Vineyards, Gewurztraminer 2009

Thursday, August 19, 2010
My Notes: Gewurztraminers can be almost as sweet if not sweeter than a Riesling. This one was surprising not that sweet. Yes you could tell it was sweeter than a Chardonnay but not icky sweet. This Gewurz would go well with Spicey foods as well as for Thanksgiving Dinner. This is a great Ho read more

Varaison Vineyards, Bin 405 Merlot 2007

I tasted this Colorado Wine at the Vino and Notes in Woodland Park on August 7, 2010. I was impressed with the winemaker and stayed and chatted for awhile. When I tasted the Bin 405, it was a very different tasting Merlot. It has the smell and taste of a Port but not as heavy. I love the Cherry  read more

Thursday, August 12, 2010
Going to a Wine Festival is one of my favorite things to do. There is something about paying one price and getting to meet other wine lovers, talk to the winemaker, and get to taste all the wines available. It is what I like to call "My Happy Place". If you have never been to a Wine Festival, read more

Colorado Wines have been around since 1978 when Jim and Ann Seewald opened Colorado Mountain Vineyards (http://www.coloradocellars.com/) in Golden, CO but eventually move their winery production to Palisade. If we look back at history, the first wild grape vines was discovered in 1873 in Estes P read more

BookCliff Vineyards, Ensemble 2007

Monday, August 02, 2010
BookCliff is one of my favorite Vineyards. I first tasted BookCliff's Ensemble at the Lafayette, Colorado Wine Festival in 2003. This is one of my favorite wines. A full bodied wine that really has a great finish. Has a little more acid taste to it than I remember from my first time. This  read more
